The Faculty of Music provides two undergraduate programs: the Bachelor of Music (Mus.Bac.) and the Bachelor of Music in Performance (Mus.Bac.Perf.). Performance majors start their specialized training immediately in their first year, while students in the general Bachelor of Music program (excluding Music Education, Composition, and Jazz Studies) complete a Common Year to fulfill core requirements and explore potential concentrations in areas like History, Culture & Theory or Comprehensive Studies. Those interested in Music Education (Classical) or Composition can choose to begin their specialization in Year 2 after the Common Year. All students must complete fundamental music courses covering history, theory, and performance, establishing a shared academic foundation.
The Music Education curriculum features diverse courses that develop well-rounded, passionate educators equipped to teach music in various settings. This program balances broad musical knowledge with specialized training, allowing students to focus on specific interests like Elementary, Choral, or Instrumental education while exploring different musical traditions. Key strengths include small class sizes, a thoughtful mix of theory and practice, and continuous faculty guidance throughout the program.
