The MWS is an interdisciplinary, hands-on professional program designed to be completed within two years. Students gain the skills to solve intricate water-related challenges through comprehensive education in science, engineering, and policy analysis, equipping them to examine water security matters at local, national, and global scales. Upon graduation, students are qualified for roles as water specialists, administrators, and policy advisors, possessing the knowledge required to confront current and emerging water crises.
This collaborative program is offered by the School of Environment and Sustainability together with the Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS)—an internationally renowned research hub dedicated to studying climate impacts on water systems, extreme weather events, and the socio-political aspects of water governance. USask boasts one of the largest groups of water research faculty globally, making it the premier choice for those pursuing holistic water security education.
