The department provides Master of Science (M.Sc.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), and Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree options, along with a Postgraduate Diploma (P.G.D.) program. M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates undertake both coursework and research projects, whereas P.G.D. students focus solely on coursework. Each graduate program is guided by a faculty advisor. Currently, around 80 graduate students are enrolled, with roughly half pursuing Ph.D. studies.
Faculty research spans six key mechanical engineering disciplines:
Cutting-edge engineering design and production
Practical mechanics and mechanical design
Biomedical engineering
Automation, robotics, and hydraulic systems
Fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and energy studies
Materials engineering and metallurgy
Research initiatives vary from foundational theoretical explorations to applied solutions for industrial and environmental challenges. Many projects collaborate with industry partners who contribute funding, specialized knowledge, and unique research resources.
