Epidemiology involves the statistical analysis of how diseases and injuries spread and what factors influence them in human and animal groups. This doctoral program exclusively trains students to become skilled epidemiologists who can examine intricate public health challenges and create their own data-driven studies to explore biological and environmental health factors. Combining academic coursework, practical work with School of Public Health faculty research projects, and individual dissertation work, students gain specialized knowledge in one or more focus areas:
Chronic disease patterns
Clinical research methods
Environmental health impacts
Animal-to-human disease transmission
Infectious disease spread
Diet-related health studies
Workplace health risks
