Agricultural Economics explores how communities allocate resources to fulfill human requirements. Farming constitutes the most extensive utilization of planetary assets—a pivotal factor in global economics. Experts in this field analyze agricultural systems through a commercial lens, encompassing aspects like consumption patterns, development, funding, cultivation, sales, processing, legislation, investigation, taxation, and distribution.
The program investigates agricultural challenges including ecological standards, food security, biotech governance, and international integration within a commercial framework. Students will analyze grain production in Saskatchewan through the lens of supply chains, covering scientific principles, technological applications, cultivation methods, product handling, marketing strategies, and end uses.
Additionally, the curriculum addresses sustainable resource utilization from administrative and policy viewpoints; difficulties impacting Prairie agriculture; and operational management for farms and agribusinesses.
