Mechanical engineers specialize in understanding motion and mechanisms, viewing the world as interconnected moving components. They engage in research, design, and innovation across scales - from enormous power generation systems to minuscule biomedical instruments.
USask has transformed its first-year engineering program to enhance student success and enjoyment. Our groundbreaking RE-ENGINEERED initiative, unique in Canada, sparks enthusiasm and creativity in budding engineers.
The RE-ENGINEERED approach replaces stressful final exams with continuous assessments, allowing for academic improvement throughout the term. Scheduled daily support sessions provide timely assistance, while practical courses replace traditional exams with immersive exploration of engineering disciplines.
Students select their specialized engineering field (major/discipline) after completing first year, which then becomes their focus for advanced studies in subsequent years.
