Political Studies explores how power operates in society's pursuit of justice, equality, freedom, and collective welfare. It addresses governance challenges across local, national, and global contexts, covering themes like governmental authority, fair resource allocation, civic duties, and conflict resolution.
The program analyzes elements shaping political choices, from belief systems and party politics to leadership dynamics, grassroots movements, electoral processes, and media influence. It also investigates worldwide stability risks such as economic inequality, ecological crises, rights abuses, and displacement issues, along with other pressing domestic and global concerns.
Prospective Honours students should meet with departmental advisors during their first year before selecting second-year courses. The B.A. program limits students to 60 credit units per discipline, with at least 66 senior-level credits required out of the 120 total for degree completion.
