The School of Journalism offers cutting-edge resources, providing students with direct experience using professional equipment, AVID editing systems, and fully operational TV and radio studios. Our curriculum combines traditional print media training with modern digital publishing approaches. The program focuses on developing analytical skills, in-depth reporting techniques, ethical standards, and comprehensive mastery of today's journalistic practices. These goals are accomplished through a combination of academic coursework, practical studio training, and a mandatory paid internship in a professional news environment. With intentionally limited class sizes (capped at 26 students), learners receive personalized guidance from seasoned instructors. A hallmark of Regina's program, nationwide media internships deliver practical, career-focused preparation. Students compile professional portfolios through campus publications like The Crow, Ink, and Ink Online, along with materials created during their fieldwork. Grounded in liberal arts principles, the School fosters community involvement and upholds journalism's vital role in democracy, with specialized expertise in investigative reporting, global coverage, Indigenous perspectives, and independent media.
