Physics encompasses everything from the infinitesimally small to the unimaginably vast across space, time, and energy scales. It reveals the fundamental principles governing our universe. Graduate students engage in pioneering experimental and theoretical work, utilizing world-class facilities including TRIUMF in Canada, multiple U.S. laboratories (Jefferson Lab, Fermilab, Brookhaven's Electron-Ion Collider), CERN in Europe, and Japan's Super-Kamiokande. The department holds institutional membership in both the Institute of Particle Physics and the Canadian Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Admission to the PhD program usually requires satisfactory completion of the MSc degree. Exceptional MSc candidates have the opportunity to transfer directly to a PhD program in the second year of their full-time studies.
