Subatomic physics seeks to comprehend the nature of matter and the universe's fundamental forces, with the ultimate goal of developing a unified Theory of Everything. The Standard Model of Particle Physics elegantly unifies three of nature's four fundamental forces (strong nuclear, electromagnetic, and weak nuclear) within a framework that includes six types of quarks and leptons, along with their interaction-carrying particles (photons, W/Z bosons, the Higgs boson, and gluons). The field aspires to integrate the remaining force - gravity - into this model, with String Theory currently being the most promising approach for achieving this unification. Meanwhile, nuclear physics examines how these fundamental forces operate within atomic nuclei, finding practical uses in astrophysics, energy production, and medical applications.
