The Bachelor of Music Education is a five-year, 150-credit-hour program that prepares graduates to teach music as specialized instructors in both elementary and secondary schools. Successful completion leads to eligibility for a Prince Edward Island Teaching Certificate 5. Those focusing on K-6 education should diversify their non-music elective choices across multiple subjects. Students specializing in grades 7-12 are encouraged to select non-music electives in a subject they can pursue up to at least the 3000 level, establishing a secondary teaching specialization.
Successful completion of Grade 12 examinations in a University Preparatory Program with an overall average of at least 70% (75% for Quebec Secondary V students) or equivalent to high school.
