The Department of Sociology and Anthropology provides major and minor programs in Sociology (SOC), Anthropology (ANTH), and a joint Sociology/Anthropology (SAN) major. Honors programs are available for each discipline. Our globally-respected faculty bring diverse expertise from research and studies conducted across multiple countries and social contexts. With courses spanning nearly all aspects of society and culture, students gain valuable world knowledge while developing the communication and analytical abilities needed for diverse career paths. Alumni have pursued advanced degrees in fields like sociology, anthropology, social work, education, law, international development, criminology, and law enforcement.
An Anthropology degree similarly opens doors to numerous professions. Graduates have excelled in education, legal fields, law enforcement, international development, corporate sectors (including NGOs), museums, human resources, and market research (some companies maintain dedicated anthropology teams).
