Founded in 1983, the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Physics (OCIP) brings together the research capabilities of both the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. The Institute provides graduate studies culminating in MSc and PhD degrees in Physics.
Research resources are jointly utilized across both campuses. While students can access faculty, courses, and amenities at either institution, they must register at their thesis advisor's primary university.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for the accelerated stream of the MSc, candidates must: Have to be an undergraduate student admitted to the University of Ottawa Have been enrolled in PHY 4006 (or equivalent) the year prior to the entry in the MSc. Have an admission average of 8.0. Note: International candidates must check the admission equivalencies for the diploma they received in their country of origin. Have completed, with a grade of at least A-, a 4000- or 5000-level course in physics (PHY) that can be counted towards the MSc. Have a thesis supervisor who has agreed to continue directing the candidate’s research at the MSc level. Note: The choice of supervisor will determine the student’s primary campus location.
