The University of Ottawa provides a vibrant academic setting for pursuing mathematics and statistics, guided by faculty members with globally recognized research expertise. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics covers nearly all key research areas in these disciplines. Additionally, the Department contributes to master's-level collaborative programs in bioinformatics and biostatistics.
Graduate studies in mathematics and statistics have been coordinated through the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (OCIMS) since 1984. This joint initiative combines the strengths of Carleton University's School of Mathematics and Statistics with the University of Ottawa's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, enabling both institutions to offer an extensive range of graduate courses annually.
