The University of Ottawa's French-language Master of Health Science in Occupational Therapy program aims to educate skilled healthcare practitioners who can meet the needs of Ontario's Francophone community, as well as French-speaking populations across Canada's bilingual and multilingual landscape.
Occupational therapy combines scientific knowledge with compassionate practice, focusing on preventing disability situations while restoring and enhancing daily activities, health, and overall wellness. Practitioners collaborate with individuals or groups to overcome challenges in performing essential tasks, whether caused by health conditions, developmental delays, environmental barriers, or aging. These challenges may affect personal care, work responsibilities, or recreational pursuits. Occupational therapists empower clients to rebuild their lives, fostering renewed self-awareness and autonomy.
The curriculum adheres to the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) guidelines, ensuring graduates acquire the necessary professional skills. Alongside academic studies, students complete 1,000 mandatory clinical hours in diverse settings including Ottawa hospitals, educational institutions, community groups, the university's interprofessional clinic, rehabilitation centers, or locations beyond the National Capital Region.

To be eligible, candidates must:
Hold:
An honours bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum average of B (70%) calculated according to the University of Ottawa guidelines.
OR
Be in the process of successfully completing, in a recognized Canadian university, three years at the equivalent of 15 units per term in an honours 4-year bachelor's degree program, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of A (85%) after the winter term of the third year.
Have a satisfactory score on a personal characteristics test (Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics (CASPer)).
