The School of International Development and Global Studies (SIDGS) provides a multidisciplinary doctoral program in International Development. Designed for both academic and professional candidates, the program is available in English and French. Following University of Ottawa policies, students may complete assignments, write their dissertation, and respond to exam questions in either official language. This is exclusively a full-time degree program.

Qualification Requirements

Admission to the PhD program is governed by the general regulations in effect for graduate studies.

To be considered for admission, applicants must:

Hold a master's degree or equivalent in International Development Studies or in a related discipline. Examples of related disciplines include Economics, Education, Geography, Law, Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology.
Have achieved a minimum average of 80% (A-) calculated in accordance with graduate studies guidelines.
