The foods we consume play a vital role in sustaining individual and community health. Those enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics program will gain comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles behind food production, consumption, and metabolism, along with their impacts on health, disease prevention, and treatment.
Participants can opt to focus on Dietetics, a specialization exclusively offered in French for bilingual learners. This distinctive Ontario-based program spans four years and incorporates practical experience through internship placements. The specialization enables students to engage directly in hands-on learning initiatives. The curriculum features cutting-edge courses and provides research internship opportunities across public institutions, community organizations, and clinical environments.
Dietetic education is delivered in an engaging academic setting by a dedicated faculty team focused on tackling diverse nutritional challenges affecting individuals and communities worldwide. Key study areas encompass global malnutrition issues, rising obesity rates, diabetes and hypertension concerns, demographic aging, food safety risks, and the intricacies of food service administration. This dietetics program holds accreditation from the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) and qualifies graduates for provincial dietetic registration. Students completing this specialization become eligible to take the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination (CDRE).
