The Faculty provides a three-year Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP) focused on community engagement at the Primary-Junior level, culminating in either a Bachelor of Education degree or an Indigenous Teacher Education Certificate.
This nine-term program combines coursework, community service learning, and practical teaching experience. After meeting all requirements, graduates are eligible for recommendation to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) for professional certification and the OCT designation.
Certificate recipients from the University of Ottawa's ITEP program can obtain a Bachelor of Education degree by submitting proof of an undergraduate degree (equivalent to 15 full courses) within ten years of earning their certificate.

Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
have completed at least a three-year undergraduate degree at a recognized university, or the equivalent in a foreign country, prior to July of the year in which they are applying to begin the program,
be of First Nations, Mtis or Inuit ancestry,
have acquired relevant experience and skills.
N.B. Grades obtained for graduate, college and CEGEP courses will not be counted in the admission average. Applicants currently enrolled in three-year undergraduate programs will be evaluated on the basis of university courses (not including college transfer courses) completed by December 31, of the year prior to their admission:
Selection is based equally on ACADEMIC STANDING and RELEVANT EXPERIENCE as submitted on the Statement of Experience Form. However, fulfillment of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

TOEFL - IBT - Overall Score 86 with writing section score 22.
