The Master of Science project pathway caters to students seeking skill enhancement or those unable to pursue a conventional research thesis. CHEM project stream MSc candidates must fulfill 3 credit hours of Graduate Seminar (spanning two terms), at least 18 credit hours of approved elective courses, and a 6-credit project (CHEM 793-6). Due to its coursework-heavy structure, MSc projects have limited availability, contingent upon teaching resources and faculty expertise in specific specialization areas. Electives should focus on science-based subjects, while the project entails independent study yielding a scientific output, though not necessarily novel research. Given the substantial course requirements, this option is only available for pre-approved specializations within each program.
Typically, the MSc program spans two academic years. While this is the standard duration, the supervisory committee may modify timelines to accommodate individual student needs.
Graduate Seminar courses run every September and January term. Students must register for these seminars at least twice during their degree.
