The Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Certificate is an interdisciplinary program that enables students to focus their studies on TEK through specialized coursework in Indigenous and environmental topics.
This credential provides a strong foundation for degree programs in First Nations Studies, Anthropology, Biology, History, Education, English, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Geography, Nursing and Community Health, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, and Women's Studies, while also serving as a pathway to Physics and Chemistry degrees.
To earn the certificate, students must complete 10 courses (minimum 30 credits), including six mandatory First Nations courses (18 credits). Writing requirements can be fulfilled through an additional First Nations Studies course. The remaining three courses (minimum 9 credits) must be chosen from designated Ecology, Chemistry, Geography, Physics, and Natural Resources offerings.
