Kinesiology research concentrates on bioscience disciplines along with psychological, socio-cultural, managerial, and philosophical dimensions of human performance, sports, and recreation, as well as individual and community health. Studies span from examining the mechanisms of human movement to evaluating volunteer participation in major events and analyzing workplace ergonomics.

As a provincial leader in health research, UNB partners with organizations like The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, Horizon Health, sports agencies, and government bodies. Our Community Outreach Programs foster cross-disciplinary research collaborations. Approximately 50-60 graduate students in research-focused programs gain access to specialized facilities including: the Andrew & Marjorie McCain Human Performance Lab, Behavior Change Lab, Cardiometabolic Exercise & Lifestyle Laboratory, multiple VR labs, and specialized research spaces like the PEADS Lab and Sports Management Virtual Reality Lab.

Qualification Requirements

Masters applicants must have a minimum GPA 3.0 B average in Kinesiology or a related field for example those applying to MScKin should have a background in Kinesiology or a related applied science field If the applicant does not hold an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or related field upon review of their application they may be required to take additional courses to ensure adequate preparation for the degree
Applicants to the MSc Kinesiology and MA Sport and Recreation Studies degree programs are to provide a detailed statement of research goals and interests and must include the names of the full time faculty members who closely match your area of interest Three references are required at least two academic with a complete application for admission to the School of Graduate studies
Applicants to the MBA Sport and Recreation Management program must also score 550 on GMAT students may apply to have the GMAT waived for CGPA of 34 or greater an undergraduate course in Economics is required with at least a B grade resume three references are required at least two academic
Applicants to the MScSS Barbados program are to submit a complete application
If applicable a minimum TOEFL 94 or 120 Internet based or a minimum IELTS score of 7 or 9
