Established in 1854, UNB's Civil Engineering department boasts a distinguished legacy. Our graduate program has equipped countless students with the vital engineering expertise needed to design, develop, and oversee critical infrastructure for contemporary communities.
Whether focusing on transportation networks, structural projects, sustainable water systems, or green construction, UNB prepares graduates for rewarding careers with engineering firms, non-governmental organizations, government bodies at all levels, and global research institutions.
The MScE program emphasizes research, requiring students to complete a substantial thesis. Thesis topics must gain approval from the relevant GAU at least six months prior to graduation. This research project must exhibit the student's ability to conduct independent investigation while advancing knowledge in their specialization. The thesis should demonstrate comprehensive understanding of existing literature, maintain strong academic writing standards, and be meticulously edited.
Program Length (full-time): 1-2 years (MEng); 2 years (MScE); 3-4 years (PhD).
Start Dates: Fall and Winter terms for MEng; Fall, Winter, and Summer for MScE and PhD programs.
