The MA Economics Program offers two pathways: (i) Research-Focused Track (RBS) and (ii) Course-Focused Track (CBS). The RBS requires eight single-term graduate classes plus a Master's Report, whereas the CBS involves 10 graduate courses, including one research-focused elective. Candidates must indicate their preferred track during application. Enrolled students may request to switch tracks depending on their academic achievements.
The co-op opportunity is available but not mandatory for degree completion. Both research and course-track students can participate in co-op. This option enables students to enhance their classroom learning with practical work experience.
At its core, the MA program features essential coursework in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics. Students can regularly choose from specialized courses covering areas like regional development, transportation economics, environmental economics, health economics, industrial organization, public policy, and applied econometrics. Both RBS and CBS students can select between a one-year or two-year program structure.
