Established in 1854, UNB's Civil Engineering department boasts a distinguished legacy. Our graduate program has equipped countless students with critical engineering expertise to design, develop, and oversee vital societal infrastructure.
From transportation networks and structural systems to sustainable water facilities and green construction, UNB graduates gain comprehensive training for rewarding careers with engineering firms, non-governmental organizations, government bodies, and global research institutions.
The PhD program focuses on original research, requiring candidates to produce a substantive thesis in civil engineering. Applicants typically need an engineering or applied science graduate degree. PhD candidates must sustain excellent academic performance and successfully complete a Comprehensive Examination within their first year, evaluated by their doctoral committee.
Program Length (full-time): 1-2 years (MEng); 2 years (MScE); 3-4 years (PhD).
Admission Periods: Fall/Winter (MEng); Fall/Winter/Summer (MScE/PhD).
