Established in 1854, UNB's Civil Engineering department boasts a distinguished legacy. Our graduate program has equipped countless students with the critical engineering expertise needed to design, develop, and oversee society's vital infrastructure systems.
Whether working on transportation networks, structural projects, environmental facilities, or sustainable construction, UNB graduates emerge with the expertise to pursue rewarding careers across diverse sectors - including engineering firms, non-governmental organizations, government bodies, and international research institutions.
The PhD program focuses on advanced research, requiring candidates to produce an original thesis contributing meaningful knowledge to civil engineering. Applicants typically hold a graduate degree in engineering or applied sciences. PhD candidates must maintain excellent academic performance and successfully complete a Comprehensive Examination within their first year, evaluated by their doctoral committee.
Program Length (full-time): 1-2 years (MEng); 2 years (MScE); 3-4 years (PhD).
Admission Periods: Fall/Winter for MEng; Fall/Winter/Summer for MScE and PhD.
