Biology explores the study of life, and our department aims to cultivate a deep interest in this field, enhance scientific understanding, and establish a strong base for careers in biology and allied fields. Modern biology addresses countless inquiries given its broad spectrum of disciplines, extending from microscopic molecules and cell structures to entire organisms like microbes, plants, and animals, up to larger environments, ecosystems, and the biosphere. Students can pursue a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with major or honors options in Biology, or choose it as a minor across various interdisciplinary programs. Our Biology Department enjoys excellent recognition both nationally and globally. You'll gain from our distinguished research achievements and highly regarded graduate and undergraduate offerings. Faculty research contributions have secured substantial funding, with several professors honored as Canada Research Chairs.
