Radiology technologists specialize in utilizing electromagnetic radiation, including X-rays, to diagnose injuries and illnesses. This radiography program is provided in partnership with Saint John Regional Hospital and The Moncton Hospital. These medical professionals are skilled in applying radiation technology for medical imaging purposes. Nearly all Canadians will require the services of a radiology technologist during their lifetime - whether for treating a sprain, fractured bone, or routine screening like mammograms.
Radiology technologists employ diverse imaging technologies including:
Standard X-rays for examining the chest, skeletal system, joints, spine, and digestive tract
Mammograms for breast cancer screening
Bone density scans to diagnose and monitor osteoporosis
Angiograms for cardiovascular and circulatory system evaluation
Fluoroscopy for real-time internal imaging
CT scans that produce detailed cross-sectional views and 3D models of anatomical structures
