The Master of Science in Soil Science program covers all facets of soil studies within agricultural and ecological systems. Instruction and investigations concentrate on preserving land sustainability and productivity, improving agricultural yields, and safeguarding soil integrity, water resources, and food safety in relation to farming practices and anthropogenic influences. Academic work and scientific exploration emphasize sustainable land use, advancement of agricultural outputs, and protection of environmental resources impacted by human intervention.
Key research areas encompass agricultural meteorology, landscape evolution, pesticide studies, soil chemical properties, mineral composition, soil ecosystems, nutrient optimization, soil physical characteristics, and environmental restoration techniques.
The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the Master of Science (Soil Science) program.
Admission requirements are those of the Faculty of Graduate Studies outlined in the Graduate Studies Regulations section of the Academic Calendar.
Applicants normally have a strong background in soil science and/or a strong background in the basic sciences related to the students proposed area of study.
The department head and the Soil Science Graduate Studies Committee will evaluate the adequacy of the applicant's background when making admission recommendations.
English language proficiency
IAEP (Intensive Academic English Program) - Pass Level 5/AEPUCE (Academic English Program for University and College Entrance) with a minimum of 65% overall
IELTS (Academic module) (International English Language Testing System) - 6.5 overall
Internet-based TOEFL - Overall score of 86 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking - 20)
Pearson Test of English Academic - 61 overall
Cambridge Assessment of English at the C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency level - Minimum score of 180
