The Department of Biological Sciences provides Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree programs. Prospective graduate students should reach out to potential supervisors within the department's research specialties. After securing a supervisor, applicants may proceed with their application to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Applicants are advised to review the Graduate Student Regulations for specific admission criteria. Both current and prospective students should explore available funding and scholarship options. The Ph.D. program combines academic coursework with an extensive research project.
Biological Sciences Graduate Student Association (BSGSA)
The BSGSA assists graduate students by coordinating student-focused activities, sharing academic resource information, arranging research seminars featuring both student and guest speakers, and fostering connections between students and their academic community. All biology graduate students are automatically enrolled as BSGSA members.
Faculty within the Department of Biological Sciences possess diverse research specializations and teaching expertise across various biological disciplines, encompassing gene regulation, developmental biology, microscopy techniques, evolutionary studies, environmental physiology, animal behavior, food web interactions, invertebrate biology, and population ecology.
