The Russian studies curriculum fosters cultural understanding through language proficiency and exposure to diverse texts, films, and cultural artifacts. Learners can join at any skill level - introductory, intermediate, or proficient. The program offers immersive language instruction utilizing multimedia resources and a digital language lab. The literature and cultural studies component focuses on exploring significant works and themes throughout Russian literary and historical traditions. This approach deepens students' appreciation of Russia's influence on European and North American cultures. While introductory courses use English translations, advanced classes are conducted entirely in Russian.

Qualification Requirements
The following are minimum requirements for entry into the Bachelor of Arts in Russian program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Direct entry applicants are those who have not attended a post-secondary institution or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college.
Advanced entry applicants are those who have completed one year (24 credit hours) or more of studies in another faculty at the University of Manitoba or another recognized post-secondary institution.
