Philosophy explores fundamental questions about existence, truth, morality, reasoning, and more. It examines concepts like free will, divinity, scientific principles, artistic expression, human feelings, linguistic meaning, moral frameworks, logical arguments, and cognitive errors. As one of the earliest academic disciplines in Western civilization, philosophy cultivates exceptional abilities in abstract thinking, precise writing, and objective evaluation of concepts. The BA Honours requires 120 credit hours with a minimum 3.00 GPA across all coursework. Instead of combining a major and minor, students focus on a single honors specialization or two for the double honors track. This program is particularly suited for those planning advanced academic research.

The following are minimum requirements for entry into the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Direct entry applicants are those who have not attended a post-secondary institution or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college.
Advanced entry applicants are those who have completed one year (24 credit hours) or more of studies in another faculty at the University of Manitoba or another recognized post-secondary institution.
