Understanding German language, culture, and European history through philosophy, art, and comparative literature provides essential skills in our interconnected world. Our comprehensive program stands among Canada's leading German cultural studies offerings. Participants will gain language proficiency while exploring diverse cultural expressions through texts, films, and other media.
This program fosters cultural understanding by developing language skills and analytical abilities across various cultural formats. It includes language instruction at all levels, introductory literature and culture courses in English translation for first-year students, plus advanced culture, literature, and language acquisition courses in both German and English. Previous German experience qualifies students for advanced placement, while beginners can join our intensive language program featuring conversation groups and modern lab techniques alongside traditional instruction. German language and cultural knowledge serves as a vital asset in our globalized society, particularly for examining European historical developments in philosophy, art & comparative literature.
