As a film studies student, you'll gain hands-on experience by working alongside classmates to produce original films. The curriculum explores cinematic works spanning different eras, cultures, and genres - including mainstream, avant-garde, non-fiction, and animated films.
Our program teaches essential filmmaking techniques like directing, scriptwriting, camera work, post-production, audio design, and performance. You'll develop both broad competencies and specialized expertise.BA Advanced: Complete 120 credit hours while maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA in all mandatory courses. Choose between a major/minor combination or opt for two majors instead of a minor.

Qualification Requirements
The following are minimum requirements for entry into the Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Direct entry applicants are those who have not attended a post-secondary institution or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college.
Advanced entry applicants are those who have completed one year (24 credit hours) or more of studies in another faculty at the University of Manitoba or another recognized post-secondary institution.
