Our researchers explore diverse subjects such as policy and governance studies, happiness and wellbeing research, environmental anthropology, studies of race and indigeneity, childhood anthropology, psychological and medical anthropology, food anthropology and archaeology, social complexity origins, ritual and religion studies, development anthropology, and urban anthropology. Our global research spans locations including Southeast Asia, Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Spain, Mali, Aotearoa New Zealand, the United States, and Canada.

As part of the Cultural, Social and Political Thought Graduate Program, our department collaborates across disciplines. We're also involved with the Institute for Child and Youth Studies (I-CYS), the Centre for Oral History and Tradition (COHT), and the Centre for Culture and Community (CCC) at the University of Lethbridge, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships and research opportunities.
