Physics explores the nature of matter and energy across all scales, from subatomic particles to cosmic dimensions. As the foundational science, it underpins all other scientific disciplines and technological advancements. This field focuses on observing and interpreting natural phenomena, manifesting in everything from seasonal changes and object motion to avian flight, celestial observations, weather patterns, and modern technologies like lasers and electronics.

Being an inherently practical science, the best approach to mastering physics is through active experimentation. Astronomy provides techniques for analyzing distant objects and deciphering collected data, offering insights into our universe. These astronomical skills also prove valuable for remote sensing applications in environmental studies. The department provides an extensive physics program, with core concepts established in the initial two years through studies in mechanics, wave phenomena, electromagnetism, optics, thermodynamics, and contemporary physics.
