Chemistry explores the fundamental elements that make up all substances in the universe. Our entire environment — from the atmosphere we inhale to the liquids we consume, the meals we enjoy, the vehicles we operate, and even our own physical forms — consists of these elemental building blocks.
The field of chemistry comprises five principal disciplines:
analytical chemistry specializes in identifying and quantifying chemical components, with applications in areas such as criminal investigations.
organic chemistry examines carbon-based compounds that form the foundation of biological organisms.
inorganic chemistry investigates all other elements, predominantly those occurring in mineral formations.
physical chemistry analyzes the core principles that dictate how matter behaves.
theoretical chemistry builds upon fundamental physics concepts like quantum mechanics to establish comprehensive models for explaining chemical processes.
This program's central objective is to deliver comprehensive theoretical understanding across all five disciplines while simultaneously developing your technical abilities through practical applications. You'll undergo rigorous lab training covering chemical transformations, safe substance management, and proficiency with sophisticated instrumentation including elemental analysis, spectroscopy techniques, nuclear magnetic resonance, crystallography methods, and mass analysis.
As a chemistry scholar, you'll utilize cutting-edge research laboratories that facilitate the innovative work of our distinguished faculty members. These instructors, who are recognized experts in their fields, conduct pioneering studies across various chemical domains such as reaction acceleration, nanostructured materials, and the chemistry of edible substances.
Applicants who complete the equivalent of Grade 12 in high school (secondary school) will be considered for admission. Applicants who have completed secondary qualifications in other countries will be considered for admission under the High School Admission Route. Applicants to undergraduate programs who have completed post-secondary study will be considered for admission under the Post-Secondary Admission Route.
