Chemistry examines the fundamental elements that make up all substances. Our entire environment — from the atmosphere we inhale to the liquids we consume, the meals we enjoy, vehicles we operate, and even our own physical forms — consists of these basic components.
Chemistry comprises five principal disciplines:
analytical chemistry concentrates on identifying and quantifying chemical substances, with applications in areas such as criminal investigations.
organic chemistry focuses on carbon-based compounds that form the foundation of biological organisms.
inorganic chemistry investigates all other elements, predominantly those occurring in mineral formations.
physical chemistry examines the core principles that dictate how matter behaves.
theoretical chemistry builds upon fundamental physics concepts like quantum mechanics to establish comprehensive models for explaining chemical processes.
This program aims to deliver comprehensive theoretical understanding across all five disciplines while developing your technical abilities through practical applications. You'll gain rigorous laboratory training in chemical transformations and safe substance handling, along with practical experience using sophisticated analytical methods including elemental analysis, spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, crystallography, and mass spectrometry.
As a chemistry scholar, you'll utilize cutting-edge research laboratories that facilitate the investigative work of our distinguished faculty members. These instructors explore varied chemical science domains such as catalytic processes, nanostructured materials, and the chemistry of food substances.
Applicants who complete the equivalent of Grade 12 in high school (secondary school) will be considered for admission. Applicants who have completed secondary qualifications in other countries will be considered for admission under the High School Admission Route. Applicants to undergraduate programs who have completed post-secondary study will be considered for admission under the Post-Secondary Admission Route.
