Our institution boasts state-of-the-art equipment that leads the industry. Unlike many schools that restrict new technology primarily for research purposes, Brock's facilities serve dual roles in both education and investigative work. Through immersive, practical training, our graduates emerge as exceptionally competent scientific professionals. As a student here, you'll actively contribute to research initiatives through specialized courses and compensated summer projects, potentially even collaborating on published works.
Our curriculum emphasizes fundamental chemical concepts and their application across various disciplines including organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and theoretical chemistry. We place particular focus on interdisciplinary areas like bio-inorganic chemistry, bio-organic chemistry, and chemical biophysics. Faculty research explores diverse areas such as creating innovative chiral ligands, developing organometallic reagents, pioneering asymmetric synthesis techniques, and advancing green chemistry practices. Additional investigations examine protein affinity labeling, protein-lipid dynamics, and the relationship between molecular structure and pharmaceutical efficacy in cancer treatments. Research extends to designing molecular architectures for novel materials, developing ligand frameworks for main-group compounds in low oxidation states, cutting-edge laser spectroscopy applications, and creating advanced nanostructured materials. Our theoretical studies concentrate on elucidating charge and energy transfer mechanisms within photosynthetic proteins.
