Philosophy examines core inquiries regarding existence, the cosmos, humanity, society, science, morality, and artistic expression. As a philosophy scholar, you'll study the intellectual groundwork shaping our political, social, and judicial frameworks, along with the foundations of contemporary scientific and technological advancements. You'll delve into profound theoretical, practical, and ethical dilemmas that transcend conventional academic boundaries. This discipline will test you with its thoughtful, analytical perspective on complex questions concerning ethics, spacetime, consciousness, and cognition. Philosophy maintains a strong connection to its extensive heritage, tracing back over two and a half millennia. The department's curriculum emphasizes these foundational explorations through courses on classical, enlightenment-era, modern, and contemporary philosophical thinkers and schools of thought.
Applicants who complete the equivalent of Grade 12 in high school (secondary school) will be considered for admission. Applicants who have completed secondary qualifications in other countries will be considered for admission under the High School Admission Route. Applicants to undergraduate programs who have completed post-secondary study will be considered for admission under the Post-Secondary Admission Route.
