The Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics provides MA and MSc programs in Geography, available through both thesis and project-based options. Graduate students can pursue research across three key domains: 1) environmental policy and governance; 2) physical environmental systems; and 3) human geography and societal transformation. This program stands out by focusing on the connections between natural environments and human societies. Research spans from community-level studies to worldwide investigations, with fieldwork opportunities in Canada and abroad.
Our Master's program enables research in human geography transformations, environmental policy frameworks, and earth system processes. The curriculum's unique strength lies in exploring the dynamic interactions between ecological and social systems. A core principle involves synthesizing knowledge across disciplines. Studies examine phenomena at various scales, from neighborhood analyses to international comparisons, encompassing research in both industrialized and emerging nations.
