The University of Guelph's Comparative Animal Physiology team stands among Canada's most extensive, covering diverse research areas from genetic analysis to comprehensive animal investigations. This dynamic, robust, and multidisciplinary collective fosters an outstanding educational atmosphere for both graduate and undergraduate researchers. With a pronounced aquatic focus, the group explores marine and freshwater species, including mollusks, echinoderms, ancient fish varieties (like lampreys, hagfish, sharks, skates, rays, and lungfish), teleosts, reptiles, amphibians, and marine mammals. A key specialization lies in examining organisms' environmental adaptations to challenges such as temperature fluctuations, salinity changes, oxygen deprivation, and drought conditions.
