The UFV Stó:lõ Studies certificate offers Indigenous and non-Indigenous students a chance to deeply engage with the heritage, language, and traditions of the Fraser Valley's Stó:lõ community. This program can be pursued as an independent part-time certificate over two years or combined with a diploma or bachelor's degree. The curriculum includes Halq'eméylem language instruction, Stó:lõ historical development, traditional healing practices, cultural perspectives, and social organization. This certificate serves Indigenous learners seeking university-level education while offering valuable career advancement for educators, social workers, and community professionals serving Indigenous populations.
The Stó:lō Studies certificate provides transfer options for continued education at UFV. Credits apply toward a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies or General Studies. Students may also transfer 12 credits to UFV's First Nations Social Services diploma or 18 credits to SFU's Developmental Standard Term Certificate (DSTC) for Halq'eméylem teaching certification.
