As a humanities scholar, you'll delve into languages, literature, and philosophical thought. You'll examine how individuals shape society while being shaped by it in return. Opportunities abound to investigate both ancient and contemporary cultures worldwide. You'll confront the intricate paradoxes and splendor of our shared human experience. All applicants to the Humanities Faculty begin as Undeclared majors, sampling diverse courses before selecting their specialization after one or more years of full-time academic exploration.
Humanities and liberal arts grapple with the profound, constantly shifting inquiry into human existence. These disciplines address matters of dignity, creative expression, intellectual pursuit, equity, liberty, and worth across diverse populations and geographies. Our studies encompass communication systems, societal norms, technological developments, and ecological considerations, celebrating the depth found in varied perspectives, distinctions, geographical separation, and local contexts.

Qualification Requirements

completion of four years of full-time academic studies in which all language of instruction is English, at a high school or post-secondary institution in a recognized English-speaking country
High school diploma or equivalent (academic stream) with high-level results / minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent
completion of Grade 12 English or its equivalent in Canada with a final grade of 86% or higher within the last three years prior to admission
a score of 86% or higher on the BC Provincial Grade 12 English Examination within the last three years prior to admission
a score of 4 or higher on the Advanced Placement Exam in English Language and Composition
a score of 4 or higher on IB Higher Level English A
English Language Proficiency Requirement: minimum IELTS 6.5 (no subscore below 6.0) / TOEFL minimum 90 (no section less than 20) or equivalent
