UFV's four-year Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) equips students with the expertise to transform organizational practices through sustainable economic and ecological approaches.
Designed as a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum, the BES bridges disciplines like environmental science, arts, physical sciences, and media studies. The program emphasizes regional solutions for Fraser Valley's ecological challenges, covering topics from agricultural sustainability and climate action to spatial planning technologies and environmental advocacy.
The BES curriculum centers on foundational courses exploring human-nature interactions, resource management, creative problem-solving, ecological research methods, and effective data presentation. Instruction blends digital and in-person learning through lectures, discussions, fieldwork, and technology-enhanced classrooms.
Students complete mandatory professional experience through either practicum placements or cooperative education, developing practical competencies and career readiness.
Graduates emerge prepared for environmental careers globally or can advance to postgraduate studies and professional certifications.
Those pursuing environmental science careers with professional licensing requirements may consider the Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Natural Sciences) specialization.
