UFV's four-year Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) program equips you with the expertise to transform organizational practices through sustainable economic and ecological approaches. Designed as a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum, the BES bridges diverse disciplines including environmental studies, arts, natural sciences, and communication studies. The program features a localized perspective by tackling Fraser Valley's ecological challenges, such as agricultural sustainability, climate adaptation, urban planning with GIS technologies, and environmental advocacy. The BES curriculum centers on foundational courses exploring human-nature interactions, resource management strategies, creative problem-solving, ecological research methodologies, and effective knowledge dissemination. Instruction occurs through multiple formats - online platforms, traditional classrooms, field excursions, and technology-enhanced learning environments. The program includes mandatory professional experience, fulfilled either through practicum placements or cooperative education opportunities. This hands-on component strengthens technical competencies and boosts employability. Graduates emerge ready for environmental careers domestically or internationally, or may opt for advanced academic pursuits or professional certifications. Those aiming for environmental science careers with professional accreditation requirements should consider the Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Natural Sciences) option. Application deadlines: Winter term - September 30; Summer term - February 1; Fall term - April 15
