The Theatre program blends performance studies with hands-on creative training to equip graduates with a versatile, well-rounded theatrical education. Students develop comprehensive knowledge of performance history and theory while mastering practical, technical, and collaborative theater skills. During the initial two years, learners explore four core disciplines: theater studies, acting and performance, technical theater and design, and creative practice. Our curriculum merges theoretical knowledge with practical application, with additional opportunities to apply these skills through active involvement in stage productions. In the final two years, students hone their artistic vision and scholarly focus through independent research and performance projects, while enhancing their analytical abilities to assess various theatrical styles, movements, productions, and scripts. Advanced courses in acting, playwriting, design, devised theater, and directing provide specialized training in sophisticated techniques, along with chances to implement, contrast, and assess different creative methodologies.

Qualification Requirements

B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent.
A minimum grade of C+ in English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 (see Note) and a minimum of a B average in two additional Approved Grade 12 courses.
Prerequisites for ENGL 105 or CMNS 125.
One of the following:
Completion of a minimum of 30 credits in courses numbered at the 100 level and above, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 on all credits attempted.
Completion of a minimum of nine credits at the 100 level and above, transferable to a degree program, with a minimum GPA of 3.00 on all credits attempted.
Completion of a post-secondary career or technical diploma (minimum of two years post-secondary credit) from a recognized Canadian or International post-secondary institution, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 (equated to the UFV grading scheme), calculated on all courses taken.
Completion of a three- or four-year Bachelor's degree from a recognized Canadian or International institution, with a minimum GPA of 2.00 (equated to the UFV grading scheme).
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) IBT score of 88 with no section below 20, or paper-based score of 570 with a TWE (essay) score of 4.5 or higher.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic format score of at least 6.5., with no band score less than 6.0.
MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) score of at least 85.
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) score of at least 70.
