The Cell and Developmental Biology graduate program provides both Master's and Doctoral degrees for students pursuing in-depth study and investigation in these fields. Designed with adaptability in mind, the curriculum caters to students' varied academic backgrounds and the expansive scope of cellular and developmental biology research.
Coursework delivers comprehensive training in modern scientific principles and techniques within these disciplines. From their initial enrollment, all candidates conduct innovative, meaningful research projects. Students can choose from an extensive selection of research areas, supported by approximately 50 faculty members conducting pioneering work in cell and developmental biology.
Additionally, the program strengthens connections and fosters collaboration among British Columbia's cell and developmental biology researchers. It serves as a central platform for academic discourse through student-organized seminars, research retreats, and various other initiatives.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC with: a minimum overall average in the B+ grade range (76-79% at UBC) in third-year level and above courses; or academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study; or applicants who have a four-year bachelor's degree, or its academic equivalent, which does not meet the requirements stated above, but who have had significant formal training and relevant professional experience to offset such deficiencies, may be granted admission on the recommendation of the appropriate graduate program or faculty and approval of the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.
