The Master of Health Science (MHSc) program equips graduates with advanced clinical research methodology expertise applicable to both academic and clinical pursuits. Tailored for individuals holding an MD or similar qualifications (such as dentistry or veterinary medicine), this degree focuses on developing epidemiological and statistical competencies for assessing and performing clinical research.
Participants engage in coursework covering essential clinical research techniques, including epidemiological study design, systematic reviews, clinical trial planning, data interpretation, and presentation. The curriculum also offers qualitative research methods along with program and economic evaluation courses. A strong emphasis is placed on cultivating critical analysis abilities across all subjects. Additionally, students can examine health policy and population health topics through select elective courses incorporated into the program.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC with: a minimum overall average in the B+ grade range (76-79% at UBC) in third-year level and above courses; or academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study; or applicants who have a four-year bachelor's degree, or its academic equivalent, which does not meet the requirements stated above, but who have had significant formal training and relevant professional experience to offset such deficiencies, may be granted admission on the recommendation of the appropriate graduate program or faculty and approval of the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.
