The Community and Agency Counseling specialization equips M.A. candidates to work with individuals, couples, and family units. Coursework and practical training explore both the effective approaches and developmental requirements of individuals and family systems. Competencies are cultivated through both group-based and one-on-one counseling education.
Aligned with the research-focused ethos of the University of British Columbia, the Counseling Psychology Program generates, enhances, and rigorously assesses psychological counseling knowledge. This includes evaluating its effectiveness, practical applications, boundaries, and connections with other fields. By employing and refining cutting-edge research methods, the program establishes qualitative and quantitative data to identify successful therapeutic approaches across educational, community, healthcare, and professional environments.
