Work together with community stakeholders through a cooperative approach that values each participant's distinct contributions. This interdisciplinary program caters to students passionate about research that involves communities, especially in areas of social justice and societal transformation. The curriculum is built upon Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and similar methodologies. These techniques involve community members as active partners in the research process, acknowledging the valuable perspectives each brings. This research model works alongside communities instead of studying them from afar, and has been gaining increasing recognition across various disciplines such as human geography, anthropology, Indigenous studies, public health, community development, urban planning, education, social work, nursing, sociology, and more.
Throughout their studies, participants will explore the theoretical foundations of community involvement while acquiring hands-on experience through direct collaboration with communities.
